We got home and about an hour later we got a follow up phone call from the police and he said that it still had not been turned in but he suggested strongly that she report it to a special number where all lost property would eventually land up if turned in, because he said (and I quote)in all of the City of Toronto there is nowhere like the Beaches for honest people, an uncanny comraderie among the people. Well we took this with a grain of salt but she took the number and did phone and all the particulars were taken.

Not more than fifteen or twenty minutes later we got a phone call from the Command Post and he said a camera had been turned in and he asked her to describe it which was not difficult because my husband slways put a thick elastic band aroung the end because it had been dropped once and this made it work. The officer laughed when she said that and said, " Say no more it is definitely yours" and furthernore he asked what street do you live on and whe told hime and he said oh I know that one that's a very wide street I think I can get this van up there I will drop it off to you on my back to the station.
Now you are talking about that big van you have down there " The Command Post" ! Can you imagine such a wonderful gesture this was, how much it made a family feel recovering some memorable pictures and also the lovely thoughts of such a nice person to take the trouble to hand it in. We don't know how to get in touch with the gentleman who handed it in, but we would like the people of the Beaches to know what a fine police force they have and caring just for a family's camera.

If there is anyway you can thank all of them and thank-you for such a lovely party we enjoy every year, but this one we will remember with special thoughts and have the pictures to prove it.
