Re: Reading Grand Opening on the Danforth The Beach Ontario Re: Reading Bookstore Moves onto Danforth

The venerable Danforth Street welcomes its newest neighbour at the start of what has been officially declared “Keep Reading Month” in Toronto. Re: Reading, a used book, CD, and DVD retailer, will officially open for business on April 4, 2009. The store, located on the Danforth at Carlaw Avenue, is set to sell a diverse range of previously-enjoyed books, music, and movies at affordable prices.

“In an industry dominated by large chain retailers, Re: Reading is reinforcing a return to the independent, local enterprise that contributes to the unique character of the surrounding community, “ says Christopher Sheedy, owner of Re: Reading. “ We’re proud to offer an alternative option for current literature and entertainment in a difficult economy where families are looking to make their dollars go further.”

While the economy continues to look bleak with February job losses coming in at an all-time high since the recession debuted, Mr. Sheedy has decisively abandoned his previous position and financial security to fulfill a longstanding entrepreneurial dream and contribute to the community.

“There is risk associated with the launch of any new business, yet when I began to explore the possibility of finally turning my dream into a reality, the support of my family and friends was overwhelming and the timing and location couldn’t be better,” Mr. Sheedy added. “There are definitely business opportunities available, even in this economy and I hope to inspire others, including those who have been laid-off, to make the leap into something that excites them.”

Re: Reading is pleased to invite the community to visit the store between 11:00am and 7:00pm to enjoy some family activities and browse the store and feel free to drop off any used books, DVDs or CDs from their collection.
