I can never figure which "city garbage bin" needs to be put out when so I just put them all out and let the garbage collectors figure it out.

Can they not better color code these bins so all people on the block can follow the lead of color coded bins put out by neighbors who know what is going on? I mean give me real color coded bins - how about yellows and pinks which show well on a dark evening? Or the "garbage bins" could have a "picture of Miller" on them and "recycle bins" could have a "picture of news papers".

There are villages in remote jungles in the Amazon, that have yet to be discovered that have better garbage service and systems than we do. Picking up garbage every 2 weeks is not civilized. Contract out the service, get it done for less than half price, and give us twice the service.

How could you have so much garbage that you need it picked up every week? My husband and I put 1 or 2 plastic milk bags into our garbage bin every other week.

I love the new bins. Instead of every household having different colours and configurations, bins now uniform except in size -- and the lids keep garbage and recycling from blowing all over our streets.

it occured to me, that if everyone in India acted like canadian with respect to garbage.

the whole country would be a 20 mile high pile of garbage.

we are the world's worst - are we not?

The Garbage really bugs me, having to do battle with the Raccoons breaking in to the green bin .. or them batting it about trying to get it open keeps me up at night. I think composting is a nice idea but should be undertaken by yourself and not forced on people through the green bin program .

are you kidding me ... let people do composting on their own ? you think this works ? give it a try .. mostly the piles don't get hot enough, coons and squirrels dig under unless you have 3 or 4(at least) layers of brick... I built a wooden enclosure for my green bin and old blue recycle bins and I have no issues at all except the street people coming on my property to find bottles, which I find more annoying than anything because my kids are around and I have no idea how stable these people are. the new bins are different colors and there is a calendar sent out every year.. maybe the city could make a link that sends you and automatic calender item for the year that puts it in your calendar and tells you what it is for, and if any updates happen will send it to you or send it each year.. this would be a very easy thing for the city to do as it is just a list of emails as they already track what is done each week.

as far as too much garbage - watch what you buy.. ocmplain to vendors with huge packages.. it's not all up to the city.
