does anyone now see that this tax should be repealed?

instead of burdening the shrinking number of buyers in the city with this ridiculous tax,

every home purchase provide 10s of thousands in spin off monies for the same.

why not spread it around more of the residents? water bill?

imagine the trouble some people have getting together the 20% down payment to get a conventional mortgage. then add the legal fees, the dispursements, hoem inspection, mortgage fees, appraisal fees, and the federal land transfer tax.

now - add around $4000 to that

sure, some banks were offering to let you add that to yout mortgage (not anymore I'll bet). SO that $4000 turns into $7500.

ridiculous.

As always the Mayor is two years behind the times. Council thought that the Real Estate boom(bubble)1998 -2007, would go on forever. With everybody making money from the transfer of property, it was a no-brainer. Then the bubble burst and it will probably take until the next real estate turnaround to get this tax repealed. Just about the time it would make sense.

What's the consensus on his blondeness getting re-elected as Mayor? Time for him and his NDP cronies to be turfed out of office, including the councillor from the Beach - Ms Sandra B?

Maybe if good representtion is elected, the land transfer tax can be repealed, as well as the extra car fee being paid.

yes! (to Joke99) Miller said he was bringing in the tax (land transfer) in part to avoid raising property taxes.

Guess which tax he has just raised now??

Gosh darn liar.
