Hello all dog owners, carers and dog lovers,

At the moment I am in talks with Park and Rec about the new bylaw disallowing dogs on the beach south of the snow fence during Oct - April. I have been doing a lot of research into this and would really appreciate any help/backup from people who appose this new regulation.

At the moment I am trying to find out what percentage of the residents in the area own dogs (I was told by Parks and Rec that it is a very small percentage - hard for me to believe) and I am also trying to find out what percentage of stores in the area are dog related and/or who cater to dog owners (i.e. treats behind the counter...). If anyone has any tips on how to retrieve this info - your help will be greatly welcomed.

FYI

There will be a public meeting arranged by Parks and Rec. about this subject towards the end of February 2009, I will post the date as soon as I am informed.

There will be petitions set out in various stores along Queen Street East for the reinstatement of the off leash area south of the snow fence during the winter months (Oct-April). Please keep your eye out for these petitions and sign if you agree.

Dog owners are not second rate citizens - we also deserve the right to enjoy the area we have invested in and to enjoy our walks along the beach during the cold winter months!

Thanks!
CRAZY JACK

Hey, I love dogs. Just had one for dinner last night, and she was a great time.

Any dog lovers that like to parade their dogs around the area and watch them pee on everything should let me pee in their yards as well.

Well, that was a thought provoking response. Thank you for that.

Given the content of your response (i.e. total rubbish) it leads me to believe that you either work for the City or Parks and Rec.

As the old saying goes; 'if you have nothing interesting or knowledgeable to say ... well then ... please ... don't say anything at all'.

Yes, when it comes to Canada, and North America in general, many tell me that politically correctness pushes men to the place of second rate citizens. The way motivation of bias (i.e., negative propaganda) is thrown at men, I am sure that dog owners will soon overtake men for second position, so be happy.

Always politically correct,

At least Crazy Jack admits he's crazy.

Buddy, please find another forum. This thread is about an off leash zone for dogs. SOmething that the many owners need nearby.

It isn't about your misogynistic issues :)

Glad to see Bussin changed her viewpoint...now she expects the praise...in light of her recent bad-press, what else could she do but back the very group (dog-owners) she had been againest??!!

It will be wondeful to know our dogs can get the exercise they need without having to look over our shoulders for the off-leash police!

Looking forward to trudging through the snow, with the wind cutting into my face--but hey! my dog will be happy!!

Structube in the Beach has a water bowl outside and I believe treats inside for dogs. Queen Street East, Toronto - (416) 698-4673
