CLIFFSIDE VILLAGE REVITALIZATION CENTRE OPENS USED BOOK DEPOT

(Toronto, Ontario, July 9, 2024) — Cliffside Village residents love to share their books. When Laura Kennedy, Co-chair of the Cliffside Village Revitalization Centre (CVRC) asked for donations to set up a used book depot, Read With Us, as a fundraising initiative for community projects, the books poured in!

“We are trying to meet a need in the area as there is no daily access to libraries or bookstores, ” said Kennedy. “We want to encourage reading as well as provide a place for the community to come.”

CVRC’s largest project involved bringing together local business owners so they could use the The City of Toronto’s Façade Improvement Program to make the area more attractive to new businesses.

“We have taken advantage of several mural programs in the area including the Benjamin Moore Mural Program and the City of Toronto Mural Program which complements the existing Mural Routes, ” said Kennedy. “We have also worked on increasing the urban canopy in partnership with the City of Toronto having planted over 100 trees in the last year in Cliffside Village.”

Located at 2404 Kingston Road, at a new facility, CVRC is open Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
