The local businesses and residents from the East end of Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road have formed a Business Association, the DVBA. This Association is dedicated to cleaning up and beautifying Danforth Avenue in the area bounded by Victoria Park Avenue to the west, Warden Avenue to the east, Danforth Avenue to the north and the railroad to the south. The association plans on making this section of the Danforth more attractive and inviting for consumers to bring their businesses and families into our community. Our community has already been officially recognized as an ERA (Employment Revitalization Area) and a CIP (Community Improvement Project. This recognition opened the door for a $2-million dollar plan to revitalize this depressed section of Danforth Avenue. The aim is to bring the pedestrian-friendly main streets of downtown Toronto to South Scarborough. On September 27th the DVBA will be hosting it's first Giant Yard Sale and Barbeque at Oakridge Park on Danforth Ave, just west of Danforth Rd. This beautiful park setting is the perfect place for a fun filled day out for the entire family. There are over 60 tables/spaces for rent to sell your goods, everything from arts/crafts, computer and software, baked goods, books, antiques and collectibles and more. There will also be kick-boxing demos, massage therapy, face painting, fingerprinting, fire truck and police car demonstrations for the kids and more. Be sure to come out for this fun filled event on Saturday September 27th from 10-2. Or call 416-691-7279 for more info.
