1954-Hurricane Hazel

Beach Boathouse, Today
Most walkers, joggers, dog owners, boaters, skateboarders, and rollerbladers who enjoy the delights of the waterfront today are unaware that this gem is now an empty shell.

What is left of the Boathouse is located slightly north and west of the Leuty Lifesaving Station, south of Queen Street, between Lee Ave. and Leuty St.

It is now used only as an open shelter.

The Boathouse on the Boardwalk was in the path of Hurricane Hazel's rampage in 1954. It was torn from its foundations, its interior destroyed. The skeleton of the original structure is all that remains today.
